In 2005 Roland, inspired by his fascination with the subject, designed a series of masks: simple rectilinear, minimal, geometric shapes constructed of foamcore. While they are all of the same visual vocabulary, they fall into five distinct families, or tribes. In September 2006, Roland begin developing the storyboard for a performance of The Only Tribe.
